To say the launch of my first fabric collection was a labour of love would be an understatement.
I am and will always remain curious about the creative process that goes into producing something tangible, not just in what I do, but for others too.
Just like any journey the twists and turns are many and varied and this collection was no exception.
This collection originally started out life as a stationery brief, to design a simple collection using a simple colour palette that included black and gold.
I like this - it's simple, sophisticated, but it didn't feel right to turn it into fabric. At the time I was pulling my portfolio together it was springtime - during the first lockdown in March 2020 - and I was surrounded by the fresh colours of spring. The luscious green grass and flowers bursting into colourful blooms in my garden had a definite impact on my mood and the colour palettes I was drawn to.
I really felt the floral motifs and feather-like blooms could do with a lift and an injection of colour. By choosing a sweet colour palette I set to work on recolouring and redesigning some of the patterns to let these motifs flourish.
I'm really thrilled with the results and loved the delivery of my fabric samples when these arrived in the post.
